Heritage Christian School was established in 1985. The school is a parental school, run by a School Board elected from the Heritage Christian School Society. Our Mission Statement is as follows: “In obedience to God’s instruction that we “teach our children the fear of the Lord”, and in response to our covenant vows at baptism, the parents and fellow-believers have established Heritage Christian School. The instruction our children receive at Heritage Christian School will be a Christ-centered education of high academic quality based on the Holy Scriptures and the Reformed Confessions. This instruction will be given in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation between parents, students, and teachers. These sensitive and compassionate teachers will guide the children in order that they may develop their talents to the best of their ability. The goal of that education is that our children will view all of the subjects taught through the “spectacles” of the Holy Scriptures, and that through this instruction the students will increase in their knowledge of God. Through the Holy Spirit working in the lives of our children, this knowledge of God will evidence itself in a living faith as our children learn to apply what they have learned to all of their lives in service to God.”
Academically, Heritage is committed to meeting the needs of every student. We recognize that no two students are alike, and we invest significant resources into academic support, including full-time Discovery Center teachers who collaborate closely with classroom staff to ensure each child has the tools they need to thrive. This strong partnership contributes to an environment where students excel, reflected in a decade of MAP scores well above national averages. Our graduates leave Heritage well prepared for high school and the challenges ahead. Beyond the classroom, students can explore their interests and talents through enriching opportunities such as Chess Club, Robotics Team, Band, Spelling Bee, and Geography Bee. While we value academic excellence, our greatest joy is leading students to know and love their heavenly Father. Weekly devotions, regular chapels, and choir provide meaningful moments for students to worship and use their gifts to glorify God.
Heritage’s staff is composed of committed teachers and aides who are members of the Protestant Reformed denomination and who share a deep dedication to Christ-centered education. We place a strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, and partnership with parents, fostering a unified approach to each child’s growth. Staff devotions every Monday morning and teacher-led chapels reflect our shared spiritual foundation. With 56 staff members serving our student body, Heritage maintains an impressive student-to-staff ratio of 7.7 to 1, ensuring personalized attention and support.
Athletics also play an important role in the Heritage experience, offering students opportunities to build character, teamwork, and school spirit. Our sports program includes boys and girls soccer, volleyball, basketball, and cross country, and also baseball, softball, track, and organized intramurals. These programs help students grow together, encourage one another, and learn the value of working as a team.
Heritage remains committed not only to Christian education but also to continual improvement. We continue to invest in our facilities, educational practices, and communication with parents to ensure that Heritage Christian School remains a place where students flourish academically, spiritually, and personally.
