UPCOMING EVENTS June 4, 2010 ½ day of school – LAST DAY!! Graduation (7:30 PM, Grace Community Church)   August 31, 2010 1st day - 2010-2011 school year

SCHOOL NEWS:

Our 2010 Graduation will be held on June 4, 2010 at Grace Community Church (3500 New Holland) at 7:30 PM. The 8^th and 9^th grade choir performs at graduation. All 8^th grade students are required to attend (arrive by 7:15 PM) dressed in Sunday best. 9^th grade students are to be at the church by 6:45 PM. 

The last day of school is this week Friday, June 4. School will dismiss for all students at 11:30 AM that day. There will be public school busing in the morning that day, but NOT at 11:30 AM.

Exams will continue on June 3 and 4. The exam schedule is as follows:

Parents: The Junior High Students are given half days of school on exam days in order to prepare for the next day’s exams. Please encourage them to use this time wisely.

The CCHS Shuttle Bus will be running next week. All CCHS students are welcome to ride the bus to their exams. The schedule is as follows: Monday pickup at Holland PRC will be at 9:15 AM, the bus will leave HCS at 9:30. The bus will return to HCS at 1:15 PM. Tuesday and Wednesday pick up will be at Holland PRC at 7:30 AM and at HCS at 7:45. The bus will return to HCS at 11:45 AM.

Report cards and enrollment packets will be available at school from June 15-18. There will be someone here on June 15-18 from 9 AM to 2 PM. If you do not pick up your packets by June 18, they will either be mailed to you or put in your church mailboxes. Due to the high cost of postage, we strongly encourage families to pick this material up at school, giving us significant savings. Please check the lost and found tables at the same time. Anything not picked up by June 18 will be donated to our fall children’s clothing and toy sale.

From the Library:

·          81 library books are still overdue. 69 books were taken from the library without being checked out and need to be returned! School is done this Friday, so do a clean sweep tonight or tomorrow!!

·          Get Caught Reading this summer. Take a picture of your child(ren) reading this summer. Bring the picture to the school library in the beginning week of the new 2010-2011 school year. The pictures will be displayed on a bulletin board in the library and they will receive a prize. Have a great summer!

Junior High Band students must turn in their music from this past year TOMORROW!! This is very important as music is terribly expensive. Thank you, parents, for encouraging your kids to do this! There is a box on the desk in Mr. Kamper’s office for the music. 

7B Art Students – your sketch books are due TOMORROW!!! Please put them on Mrs. Kuiper’s desk.

Spring sports seasons are completed. Baseball and softball uniforms need to be turned in to the office if you haven’t already done so.

Many students owe money to the office for things such as phone calls and reeds for band. Please pay these amounts ASAP. Fines will

We are looking for two bus drivers for afternoon bus routes of the 2010-2011 school year. Please contact school for more details or if interested.

HCS Basketball Camp will be held on August 9-12, 2010. Forms for the camp which is led by the DBs are available in the office. Registration is due by June 30.

Parents of 5^th graders: Remember to return the blue immunization forms to school. We need this on file before the beginning of the 2010 school year.

We have some 2009-2010 yearbooks available yet in the office. The cost for this year’s book is $18.  If you are a patron or placed an advertisement in the yearbook, you may pick up one free copy in the office.

At the end of another school year we express our appreciation once more to our volunteers for their contributions to the students here at Heritage. We express a special thanks to Amy K who helped us every Thursday morning here at school! Thanks, Amy for your cheerful help each week!  

FUNDRAISER NEWS:

TRIP – There will not be TRIP next week Tuesday. TRIP dates for the summer are as follows: June 15 and 29, July 13 and 27 and August 10 and 24. The hours will be from 9 to 10:30 AM. So far THIS school year (September through May) TRIP has earned $6000 for our school. Try to remember us and support HCS. Everyone uses gas and grocery stores, so why not use TRIP??

Don’t forget to continue collecting your Box Tops and labels through the summer months. The Paper Gator also is hungry through the summer. You are more than welcome, in fact encouraged to keep filling it up!!!

Please reserve Saturday, September 18 for our Children’s Clothing and Toy Sale from 9 until noon (set up Friday, Sept. 17 from 5-7:30). Remember this will be fall/winter clothing so you can work ahead this summer sorting and preparing! Due to the sale being quite soon after school starts we wanted to think ahead. Also we need to limit the sale to 60 sellers due to space, so please call only if you can truly commit to it. Thank you so much!

HCS Panther Gear:  We have received some broken water bottles back, if yours breaks we will replace it. We are in the process of getting a sturdier bottle.  

OTHER NEWS:

Hope Classic Races - Are you ready?  The races will be held THIS Saturday, June 5!  Late registration is open until 8:15 this Saturday.  All 5K walkers & runners should be at school by 8:30.  Walkers start at 8:45 and runners at 9:00.  The 1 Mile Fun Run is scheduled to begin at 9:50 in the Hope Church parking lot.  Packets for all races are available for pick-up at Hope School on Friday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 or Saturday morning from 7:30-8:15.  Call Hope School (453-9717) with any questions.  Hope to see you there!

The Domestic Missions Committee will present Mission Awareness Day on Saturday, June 12 at Georgetown Protestant Reformed Church.  Sectionals highlighting various aspects of Protestant Reformed foreign and domestic mission work will be presented throughout the day by our missionaries and others familiar with our various missions.  Everyone is welcome!  Reservations are required for lunch (by donation); please RSVP by May 30. 

The 3rd Annual Faith PRC YP Beach Volleyball Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 17, at Holland State Park.  We are accepting team registrations for 6 v 6 Co-ed and 4 v 4 Co-ed this year!  Cost is $25 per person ($150 for 6v6 team, and $100 for 4v4 team).  Registration forms are available in your church . Registration deadline is June 28.  Proceeds to benefit the Faith YP convention needs.

Hope Foundation Perch Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 17, from 8 AM – 12 Noon in South Haven, MI.  Rain date is July 31.

3vs3 Soccer Tournament:  Hudsonville PRC Young People are sponsoring a 3v3 soccer tournament on Saturday, July 31 at Heritage Christian School.  There will be divisions for players from U9 (third grade) to adults for girls and boys.  Cost is $80 per team and each team may have from 3 - 5 players.  Mark the date, start putting your team together and more information will be coming shortly.

The Adams School Boosters Club is beginning preparations for the annual fall auction to be held on November 12, 2010. We are currently seeking donations of items, services or monetary donations to purchase items for the auction. Thank you!

Adams Craft Show is scheduled, the Lord willing, for November 20, 2010 from 9-3.  Mark your calendars and plan to attend and support Adams Christian with this fundraiser.  Lunch will be served and bake sale will be available.
